Subject: SCAM Alert- Impersonating Oshkosh Police Benevolent Association
OSHKOSH, WI (March 15, 2022): The Oshkosh Police Department is currently investigating a phone scam which occurred in the City of Oshkosh.
A citizen alerted OPD that they received a phone call from a person stating they were with the Oshkosh Police Benevolent Association. The caller requested a donation from the citizen, demanded monetary commitment, and became verbally aggressive.
The Oshkosh Police Benevolent Association is affiliated with the Oshkosh Police Department and is involved in engaging in charitable activities aimed at benefitting the community. Officers from the Oshkosh Police Department may call citizens in regards to investigations but they will not call to solicit money.
