Evergreen Foundation - Focus on Forever

A dream makes your heart glow, your mind expand,

stirs your will to grasp, and extends you to the utmost

. . . until your dream comes true.

Oswald Chambers

Our dream began in 1967 with Howard and Ruth Rowland whose dream of a retirement community that would provide dignity, comfort, and security became a reality through their own faith and generosity. In partnership with the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church, they established Evergreen Manor that later became Evergreen Retirement Community. Their legacy is a vision for a financially strong foundation able to meet the needs of Evergreen Retirement Community.

The Evergreen Foundation

  • Mission - to secure and use resources in support of the Evergreen Retirement Community mission to "create exceptional living environments and experiences to serve older adults."

  • Values - follow moral and ethical principles in all relationships and to ensure that the needs of residents are the primary concern.

  • Vision - a financially strong Foundation that is able to meet the needs of Evergreen Retirement Community.

The Evergreen Foundation Board of Directors

Evergreen Foundation, Inc. Board is governed by two community members and three members of the Evergreen Retirement Community, Inc. Board of Directors.

  • Gail Ann Winkler, Chair
  • Tom Sonnleitner, Vice-Chair
  • John Bermingham
  • Ann Tulip

At Evergreen we have a dream . . .
a dream for dignity, wholeness, and fulfillment of the human spirit. A simple dream that we must keep alive for the people we serve. Whatever life may hold - independence, declining health, or dependence on benevolent care - this dream must never be out of reach. Together we can help safeguard the dreams of us all.

We invite you to gift the Evergreen Foundation with a current investment of cash, stocks, bonds or property or with a planned gift by naming Evergreen Foundation as a beneficiary of your estate, life insurance or other life income plans. With a planned gift, you will become a member of our Leave a Legacy Guild.

Your gift may be designated for . . .

  • special purposes identified by Evergreen
  • special interests (examples: staff scholarships and education; spiritual enrichment; beautification of the grounds)
  • unrestricted purposes
  • the benevolent fund for residents who have outlived their financial resources
  • recognition as an honorarium or memorial

Donors are recognized in a number of ways.

The Founders Grove Recognition Wall in the Evergreen Manor Building lobby was designed especially for Evergreen as a special tribute to major benefactors. Leave a Legacy Guild

The Leave a Legacy Guild is comprised of those who leave a bequest through their estate as well as those who inform Evergreen of such a bequest or other type of planned gift. Planned giving allows the donor to receive during one's lifetime benefits from a charitable gift that will be made from one's estate. Wills, life insurance policies, retirement accounts and other planning arrangements offer exceptional opportunities to leave a lasting legacy through the Evergreen Foundation. Federal and many state tax laws make it possible to reduce or eliminate gift, estate, capital gain and income taxes on funds given to charity. Millions of Americans take advantage of the opportunity to make charitable gifts and also reduce their tax liability. The planned giving program inspires donors to “Focus on Forever” by making a lasting gift that “leaves a legacy” for generations to come.
