. . . that the Christmas Box Angel of Hope, a statue
that serves as a place of mourning for parents who lost a child,
has found a home at Evergreen! Standing near the Creekview
entrance in the quiet beauty of nature, the angel statue offers visitors a place for personal reflection. Bricks are
available to be engraved as memorials. Contact

was held on June1, 2008. The statue was a
collaboration with the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, the
Compassionate Friends of Oshkosh and Evergreen Retirement
Community.

Wisconsin
Forward Award Program has recognized Evergreen with a very
prestigious award! The Evergreen Executive Team and other
staff members attended the ceremony in Madison on August 2 where
Traci Raether, VP Quality and Organization Development, accepted
the Proficiency Level Award for Evergreen. The Wisconsin
Forward Award is modeled upon the Malcolm Baldrige National

. . . that the
Evergreen Innovations Network (EIN) was
launched in 2007 by Traci Raether, VP of Quality
and Organization Development. EIN is a new
business venture for Evergreen focused on helping other
organization find real business solutions through education,
research and consultation. Traci has been making new
connections around the United States and has already done
consultation work with organizations in Wisconsin, Ohio and
Texas.
. . . that Evergreen resident artwork is featured in display
cases along Heritage Hall (across from C.E.O Ken Arneson's
office). This changing display highlights some of the many
artistic talents of residents and their families and has
included carvings, metalwork, drawings, needlework, and more.
The displays are coordinated by three residents who are members
of the Resident Art Display Committee.

. . . that Traci Raether, VP Quality
and Organization Development, is the new president of the UW
Oshkosh Alumni Association! Traci’s active involvement with
her Alma Mater emphasizes her strong commitment to higher
education. In 2006 she was awarded the first-ever UW
Oshkosh College of Nursing Faculty and Staff Alumni Award in
recognition of her professional and leadership achievements.
. . . that Edward Hinzmann, Evergreen Executive Chef, supervises the dietary
department and Creekview Cafe. He also coordinates
culinary events including food preparation for "Special
Evenings of Dining and Entertainment" and "Cooking
with the Chef," two very popular events held regularly
for residents and visitors.
. . . that Evergreen hosted eleven Learning in
Retirement sessions in 2007? And that total
attendance exceeded 1,000 people? Four
sessions were held at Evergreen during the 2007 spring semester
with attendance at each ranging from 50 - 125 people. In
addition, Evergreen Dining Services catered the LIR 10th
Anniversary picnic for 80 people. Seven more LIR sessions
were held at Evergreen last fall with 90 - 167 people
pre-registered for each session!

. . that Oshkosh is a
"Smart Place to Live!" Cited as one of three cities in
Wisconsin to have been ranked in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance
magazine, Oshkosh ranked 45th on the list of “50
Smart Places to Live” based on cost of living, housing costs,
education, cultural amenities, recreational opportunities,
transportation and economical diversification. The list also
noted that Oshkosh is particularly suited for families and
retirees. Evergreen is proud that we are
truly a smart place to live!
. . . that Evergreen's marketing DVD "A Community of
Possibilities" was awarded the Telly Award, the
industry Oscar for electronic production! It also was one of twelve in the nation featured
at the 2006 Annual Meeting and Exposition of the American
Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. AAHSA's
selection committee members commented that the DVD was one of

. . . that Evergreen often hosts group visitors from other
facilities and organizations who are interested in learning more
about the innovative ideas in place here. A group of nursing
faculty from two universities in India visited recently. The group of seven women were invited by Traci Raether to visit
Evergreen while they were in Oshkosh as part of their 3-week
trip to the United States. Traci and C.E.O Ken Arneson led
them on a campus-wide tour.
