Saturday mornings this fall, employees and their families
spent several hours picking up trash along the section of
roadway that Evergreen has sponsored on Hwy E from
Claireville Road to SandPit Road in partnership with
the Adopt-a-Highway program.

recognized by the
Wisconsin Forward Award,
the state’s premier organization for the promotion and
recognition of high performance management principals?

are certified as Culture Change Nurse Coordinators? They each completed
an intensive Culture Change training program and an
examination by the American Association for Long Term Care
Nursing to receive the credential of CCNC-C. . . . that
Jane Peters, RN, Creekview South Clinical Coordinator,
was featured in the Spring 2009 issue of Wisconsin Nurses
magazine? The three-page article focused on the
positive aspects and rewarding benefits of working in a
long-term-care setting. She encouraged other nurses and
students to consider the long-term-care environment when
making career choices. Jane is a past winner of the
Nightingale Award for excellence in nursing.

Wave™, which is now available for sale! The Learning
Wave™ has been used at
Evergreen Retirement Community for the past
17 years and is designed to prepare all staff in creating a
quality culture focused on providing services to residents,
while giving staff the opportunity to engage in their
workplace. EIN is a business
venture, launched by Traci Raether, VP of Quality &
Organization Development, to assist other organizations in identifying tools and practical
approaches necessary for successful culture change, process
improvement, and teamwork.

Award – Silver Level? The award signifies
Evergreen's commitment to building a work environment that
enables employees to develop and maintain lifelong healthy

has installed a hearing loop in our Chapel to assist those
with hearing aids equipped with T-coils? Sound is
transmitted directly and wirelessly without background noise or
interference. This new technology will better serve
our residents and community members.

Manor View receive physical therapy, occupational therapy,
and speech-language pathology from Peoplefirst Rehabilitation?
Peoplefirst is the provider
of Evergreen Therapy Services for in-house residents and for
out-patients. Services are provided in two locations
within Evergreen. The Cedar Center is near the Creekview
entrance and the Cypress Center is located on the lower level of
the Manor Building and can be conveniently reached by parking on
Eagle Street.

. . . that Becky Meck, Speech-Language Pathologist, is trained
in Spaced Retrieval (SR) Technique? SR is a
technique that focuses on procedural memory that can be used for
residents with cognitive deficits to assist in recalling
information over progressively longer intervals of time.
. . . that Sarah
Salzsieder, RN, WCC, Clinical Coordinator in the Evergreen
Health Center has received Wound Care Certification through
the National Alliance of Wound Care? Sarah was one of a limited
group of long-term care nurses who were invited to attend a
week-long intensive training provided by the Wound Care
Education Institute. The education was part of the Wisconsin
Wound Care Initiative encouraging LTC nurses to receive
additional education specific to wound care and is a program
that is being watched with interest by other states around the
country.
. . . that Evergreen hosts an annual "World of Thanks" dinner and recognition event for residents, staff,
donors and volunteers? Planning for the themed event
occurs over the entire year and over 200 people attend.

Home Administrator’s license from the state of
Wisconsin? Peggy is in charge of day-to-day nursing home
operations for all three Health Center areas at Evergreen - Creekview North, Creekview South and The Post Surgical and Rehab
Center at Manorview.
. . . that Evergreen Health Center nurses received special
advanced end-of-life training to better equip them to care
for hospice residents? The two-day training focused on symptom
management and pain management.

that serves as a place of mourning for parents who lost a child,
has found a home at Evergreen! Standing near the Creekview
entrance in the quiet beauty of nature, the angel statue offers visitors a place for personal reflection. Bricks are

collaboration with the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, the
Compassionate Friends of Oshkosh and Evergreen Retirement

cases along Heritage Hall (across from C.E.O Ken Arneson's
office). This changing display highlights some of the many
artistic talents of residents and their families and has
included carvings, metalwork, drawings, needlework, and more.
The displays are coordinated by three residents who are members
of the Resident Art Display Committee.

Development, is the president of the UW
Oshkosh Alumni Association! Traci’s active involvement with
her Alma Mater emphasizes her strong commitment to higher

Oshkosh College of Nursing Faculty and Staff Alumni Award in
recognition of her professional and leadership achievements.

Possibilities" was awarded the Telly Award, the
industry Oscar for electronic production! It also was
one of twelve in the nation featured at an Annual Meeting and Exposition of the American
Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. AAHSA's
